Mohammadali (Ali) Khodabandehlou

Hi! I’m Ali, a first-year PhD student of Computer Engineering at the University of Southern California. I am currently a member of Autonomous Networks Research Group (ANRG) and fortunate to be advised by Prof. Bhaskar Krishnamachari.

My research interests are in computer networks and distributed systems, focusing on designing efficient, scalable, and intelligent solutions for complex, real-world problems. I am also interested in applying reinforcement learning and algorithmic techniques to optimize performance, reliability, and energy efficiency in networked systems.

I received my BSc in Computer Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in 2024.

Scheduling a given graph of tasks on a processing network has been a topic of interest and has been extensively studied, including for IoT applications. However, scheduling a series of task graphs that arrive at different time instances is still under-explored. We discuss this problem and introduce two approaches for it: Residual and Cumulative. We demonstrate using two subtle examples that both approaches face performance challenges.
